Our Precious Elsie

Elsie - 8 Weeks (Shelter Mug Shot)
Ryan and I went to the local humane society when we decided to get our first puppy, and we were so lucky to find Elsie there!

She was a Chocolate Lab / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. We had never heard of Ridgebacks before we brought Elsie home, but started researching the breed and liked what we found.

Elsie made a great little cuddlebug.

She quickly learned that Iris was a princess, but Doug was more on her level.

She's not shy! Elsie was a great office dog (as long as she got to go to the park every day). She liked to gather all her toys in a pile and then sleep on them.

We bought our "family car" when Elsie got too big to sit on our laps. Backseat Dog!

Elsie was a happy, healthy puppy who wanted to go everywhere with us and loved more than anything to play with other dogs. Once it was warm enough outside, she wanted to go to the dog park every single day. Her favorite game was keep-away. One day in May when she was five months old, she was playing keep-away with some other dogs at the park when she tripped over herself and took a big tumble. She didn't get back up.

Ryan and I will never forget our first puppy. Elsie taught us a lot about ourselves, showed us how to be a family, and really helped put things in perspective. We'll miss her always!
